The people of Northampton had grown fed up with the extended absence of the "A" from the Calvin theater's marquee, a prominent feature of the downtown shopping and entertainment district. Legend was that a truck driving too close to the curb had hit the marquee, and the owner did not want to pay to fix it. From taunts by the mayor on Instagram to the C_LVIN IPA created in its honor, the missing A became a local punchline.
But alas, the A was finally replaced, and the marquee glowed with indigo backlights for about a week... only for a truck to come by and take out the C. Oh well, at least he deserved an A for effort. And so this was immortalized in beer.
